Melbourne, Australia's second largest city, is a popular stop on many Australia itineraries. Galleries, theaters, restaurants, shops, and a distinctly European feel are the main draws of this sophisticated city on the Yarra River. It's also a green city with parks, gardens, and open spaces occupying almost a third of its total area. Highlights of the city include the Royal Botanic Gardens, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground where sports fans can watch cricket in the summer and Australian Rules football in the winter. Shoppers flock to the elegant Royal Arcade on Bourke Street, as well as Chapel Street, the Melbourne Central Shopping Center, and the Queen Victoria Market, which has been selling fruits, vegetables, clothes, and crafts for more than a century.M...

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had an amazing summer! I completed my internship at the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. Everyday I worked with all sorts of amazing animals. I was able to get hands on experience having birds fly to my hands, doing pouch checks on one of our kangaroos, assisting with training the dingoes, and so much more. I was also able to watch several training sessions for each of the animals on our run. I was so excited to complete a preference trial for our kangaroos because they’ve proven to be very difficult to enrich. Sadly I ran out of time due to renovations of the Austral/Asia loop. Instead I was able to participate in over 100 bird catch-ups. That was a really beneficial experience and all of my keepers were really excited that I was able to be a part of it! D...
